Today, we're excited to announce five action sources have joined the Social Actions API, an open database of opportunities to make a difference. For a full list and profiles of the latest innovators contributing to Social Actions, please see Our Guide to 60+ Action Sources.
Note: Content from SaveTogether and IdeaEncoure may take an additional
week before it starts appearing, due to a technical issue on our end. Nevertheless, we wanted to include them in this launch announcement.
The Full List of Action Sources Contributing to Social Actions
Peter, I've voiced appreciation for these latest additions in a separate post. Here, a quick note to observe that if my math is right, there are now 70 different online platforms contributing to the Social Actions API. That's alot, and still less than half of the 200 platforms we're aware of.
Recently in an exchange on Tactical Philanthropy, Jacob Harold suggested that there perhaps are just too many, that the human body only needs two kidneys, how could the world need so many online giving platforms? The way I see it we have rapidly evolving online technologies, and 6 billion people and a planet to take care of. Add to that combination a growing passion for leveraging one to serve the other, and we'll be seeing more of these platforms and in increasing variety for a long time to come.
I know there's more Social Actions could be doing, beyond providing the API, to serve this community. Looking forward to diving more deeply into that important work in the months and years to come.
