On September 21, the Atlanta metro area endured serious floods. In the suburb Austell,
Change Agent Denise Russo watched water engulf her home, neighborhood and children's school. More than half of the town's residents are temporarily homeless.
As a Change Agent on
Changents.com, Denise helps raise money and awareness about the global water crisis by producing events and concerts. Since March, she's been telling her story and building a community around her work. In response to Denise's recent post on Changents.com, members of its community is becoming change agents for her. They're helping one of their own in distress.
This type of action is exactly what the world needs a little more of. People realizing their actions, single handedly, can make a BIG impact on problems close to home and around the world.
Below are pictures of Denise's home.

Here is an excerpt from her most recent post:
"As I watched the waters quickly rise, I had no idea that by late afternoon, my car and the kids' school would be totally submerged under water, or that we would lose the majority of our personal belongings and our home in such a devastating way. In fact, on Tue Sept 22, I got a personal gondolier ride for my birthday....in a canoe...to my front door. Waters exceeded 9 feet in my home and many of my neighbors had water all the way to their rooftops. Hundreds of cars, including mine, were destroyed, and belongings and memories floated for blocks.
The recovery efforts have been tremendous over the past 16 days. We have met and visited with volunteers nationwide who have come to our aid. The house is now down to studs. That's it. The various estimates for the damages in my home are now about $80K. That is before we replace any carpet or personal belongings, or replace my car."
