Sprint has scored an “A” on the 2011 Green Grades Report Card, published by ForestEthics. Sprint has a paper policy to avoid fiber from endangered forests and has set a purchasing goal of 90 percent Forest Stewardship Council certified paper by 2012. The ForestEthics Report Card ranks a dozen U.S. Fortune 500 companies that impact forests through heavy paper use. This year’s Green Grades focused on companies in the credit card, insurance, and telecom sectors, including American Express, Bank of America, GEICO, and Verizon.
Business in the Community announced the winners of its 2010 Excellence Awards last week in London. Among the 14 overall winners were Wates for Company of the Year, Maloney’s Retail Store for Small Company of the Year, Marks and Spencer for Anglo-American Responsible Supply Chain, and the Unipart Group of Companies for the Asda Environmental Leadership Awards. BITC offers a framework to help companies integrate responsible business into day-to-day operations, and provides products and services, training and advice to its 800 members.
