Business in the Community, the U.K.’s oldest and largest national business-led coalition dedicated to corporate responsibility, has called for entries for the BITC 2010 Awards for Excellence. Firms can enter in any of 15 award categories, including small company of the year, healthy workplaces, and active in communities. Businesses that enter and which can prove their community or environmental programs receive a Big Tick, a nationally recognized logo to use on their Web sites, marketing materials, and letterheads. Between three and five businesses in each category will be shortlisted for the overall awards, the Examples of Excellence in CSR. Entries are due by March 5th.
Best sustainability practices are outlined in a new report from SDialogue, a sustainability communications firm. The report, “Top Seven Sustainability Practices: the Sum and the Parts,” offers companies and organizations a primer about sustainability communications through a systemic approach. The seven best practices include setting sustainability goals and metrics, identifying and engaging stakeholders, integrating sustainability into a brand, and CSR reporting. The report also offers insights into the use of social media and how CSR reporting can build trust with consumers.
