We were (and remain!) blown away by the 35 inspiring & innovative apps that were recently submitted to Social Actions' Change the Web Challenge!

All manner of widgets, gadgets, plugins, extensions, applications, & mashups now help you find and share ways to take action on just about any website & lots of mobile. There are also a number of wonderful ways to visualize and filter actions to help you make the most impact!

1 - Amazeeng - search social action everywhere!

"With Amazeeng you can search all projects on Amazee.com and other actions via the Social Actions API to find social causes and actions of your interest. Amazeeng is an embeddable Flash object that can be customized to your needs and can be embedded into any website or blog. With Amazeeng you can search social action everywhere!"

2 - BattFone

"BattFone.me utilizes the sense of 'now' that Twitter has brought to the social web with the Social Actions API. The application will alert you to Actions you can do, when they need to be done."

3 - Beyond the Bite

4 - CauseSense

"This project is about a Firefox plugin that let's you replace (Google) Ads with Social Actions ads."

5 - Change The World WordPress Plugin

"A WordPress plugin similar to Hello, Dolly but with lyrics from I'd Love To Change The World by Ten Years After. It also has a Twitter icon that, when clicked, returns an ATOM feed from a search query "change+the+world" via Social Actions' API."

6 - Charity Meter

"...a widget on my social networks that displays how much I gave to which project. Resulting in a list of all the money I gave to multiple projects that I think are good causes..."

7 - Citizens Voice Social Application

9 - District-by-District Organizing Tool

"The District-by-District Organizing Tool is a full-featured social networking site that empowers users to lobby congressional representatives in order to effect change."

10 - Giveback's Take Action Widget

"Giveback's Take Action Widget delivers relevant actions from the Social Actions database to any content site on the web! Each Take Action Widget also tracks and displays the number of actions users have taken through the site, so that bloggers, journalists and other content authors can see in real-time how effective their content is at motivating people to take action."

11 - GovTrack.us with SocialActions widget

"GovTrack.us is an (already existing) website that tracks what's happening in the United States Congress...For this project submission, we have added a Social Actions box to pages for bills in Congress helping people find related causes to join elsewhere on the net, such as to support or oppose the bill."

12 - LinkExtend Firefox Extension

"LinkExtend lets you see a list of social actions that relate to any page you are browsing or to any of your search results! You can also right click on a link before entering a site to see if it has relevant social actions, and...select text on a page or enter a search term and then see related social actions."

13 - Micro-Lending Widget

"This widget will be embedded on the "landing page" where Lend4Health.org lenders will be taken after they make a loan. Pulling data from the Social Actions API, it will present to the lender three microlending opportunities available on other Social Actions platforms (e.g., Kiva, Wokai)."

"This small webservice gets the latest trends from twitter and looks for related good causes on Social Actions, an aggregator and search API for loads of activist sites."

20 - Social Actions Interactive Map (and location extractor)

"To capture the context of the WHERE, this project uses sophisticated techniques to extract location information from full text paragraphs. It then displays such information in both list and map form."

"This project will add a Social Actions search to your Firefox toolbar. Much like the Google search that is already there."

"SocialActives.com is a social site for volunteers to browse through recent social actions from SocialActions.com and to interact with like-minded people around various social actions. SocialActives.com also serves as a bookmarking site for social actions."

35 - Zemanta's related social actions for bloggers

"Zemanta is a blogging add-on that recommends additional content while you write your blog post. We integrated social actions with related articles to provide contextually most relevant actions to bloggers so they can easily promote them to their readers."

Crazy to believe, but there were also ten other submissions to the Change the Web Challenge! It doesn't look like they've integrated ways to take action from Social Actions yet (a Challenge requirement) – but we’re excited for when they do!
