My Social Actions

As part of Social Actions' Change the Web Challenge we're excited to host the "Change the Web Conversation Series," open online chats to discuss how to use specific technology platforms for good.

Throughout the next month we'll be exploring Mozilla, Facebook, the iPhone, OpenSocial, Twitter, and OpenConvio - and convening conversations for nonprofits, activists, and cause advocates around how to leverage these platforms for social change!

We're also inviting community members to sign up to be moderators. Please email Romina@SocialActions.com if you'd like to volunteer to moderate a particular session

All chats are free, open, and will be hosted on SocialActions.com here (Please RSVP for the events you want to attend and we'll send you a reminder before the events!)

Hey Joe,
This coming Feb. 23, Ning will be rolling out an updated version of their Chat feature, which will look quite a bit like Facebook's chat:
http://blog.ning.com/2009/02/new-media-players-chat-february-23rd.html
adding the Chat feature through Manage > Features could be one way to go about this.

Another way could be to set up a new page (using the Tab Manager):
http://help.ning.com/cgi-bin/ning.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3256&p_sid=6asL2Pqj

If you prefer to embed your own Chat code, if you want to do the chat on its own page (not the home page), this is the only way you can embed JavaScript-based code in your network (Notes don't support JS)

If you don't mind adding the code on your home page, you could also accomplish this through the use of a TextBox, if you have any left.

Last, I just wrote to Romina about it, but I would be up for doing a session on Ning for Nonprofits.
