My Social Actions

As promised, here is earned income program #2. Beginning in October 2008, Social Actions plans to launch something we're calling the Featured Action Challenge.

The goal of the challenge is to highlight successful campaigns created on the websites of our 20+ platform partners. We're currently building out the technology for the featured action challenge. We're also figuring out the appropriate criteria for winning and the scope of the prize.

Our goal is to identify challenge winners based on milestones reached instead of "beating out the competition." The challenge will focus on campaign initiators accomplishing specific goals (ie, 100+ inbound links, 1000+ click-throughs to their action, or 500+ votes of confidence from friends and family). The more people that reach these milestones, the more awards given and the greater the impact on micro-philanthropy.

Sign-up to Sponsor the Challenge
We are looking for corporate, foundation, and grassroots sponsors to underwrite the first round of the Social Actions Featured Action Challenge. The sponsors will receive public recognition for each milestone award they sponsor. Overtime, individual sponsors will build out an extensive profile of campaigns they've awarded for meeting specific milestones.

In addition to receiving public recognition and underwriting the awards, the sponsors will be asked to contribute to Social Actions operating expenses. While we haven't sorted out the precise details of the challenge, we're thinking that the sponsor would be asked to contribute $1000 to Social Actions per award supported, 20% of which would be used to cover the cost of the prize.

The prizes will most likely consist of gift cards to be used on the websites of our 20+ platform partners.

If you have questions or would like to sponsor the first round of the Featured Action Challenge, please write to peter@socialactions.com.

PS -- The best part of the Social Actions Featured Action Challenge is that the winners and repeat winners of the challenge will emerge with a valuable knowledge base that can be tapped for advice on launching and implementing peer-to-peer social change campaigns.

Please post your thoughts about the Social Actions Featured Action Challenge below. All the best, Peter
