We're Working with The Brattleboro Tech Collective

It's official. Thanks to an introduction through Allen Gunn of Aspiration Tech, we have found our way to a top-rate Ruby on Rails development house based in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Below is a brief description of The Brattleboro Tech Collective:

We are a worker-owned and operated technology collective, focused on workplace democracy and promoting a democratic society while supporting like-minded businesses and organizations by providing open-source website development and consulting.

Through our work with progressive businesses, non-profits, and organizations we hope to create positive change in our world by providing the best possible software and highest quality support for those that we work for.

The Brattleboro Tech Collective will be working with us to build-out a fully functional version of the search interface and open API we proposed during the NetSquared Mashup Challenge.

We are excited to be working with two of the three "worker-owners" at Bratt: Josh Crawford and Jason Mott (both of whom just joined the Social Actions blog).

Hi! We're excited to be working on Social Actions. It's always great to work with like-minded folks who are doing positive work and doing it with cool tech. We're looking forward to "meeting" more of the community soon.

Yea, we're super psyched about this project. It's exactly the kind of work we look for, great technology working for a great cause.

Thanks Josh. Thanks Jason. The other nice part to the whole Social Actions initiative is that it's entirely open-source. Anyone who likes what we are doing can lend a hand on the vision and/or the development side to make sure we shake up philanthropy and online civic engagement for the better. With your combined Ruby-on-Rails skills, we're going places...

Good point Peter! Open source is so ingrained into our philosophy, I sometimes forget to point it out! But that's definitely a big part of our excitement about this project. Not only is it open source, but it's being developed openly right from the start.
